The LIV Golf Tour takes on Las Vegas this week for its second event of the year. This is the 19th different global market and 11th different U.S. market to host a League or Promotions tournament. But LIV Golf made a birdie before the players tee off by scheduling a tournmanet in Las Vegas the week of the Super Bowl – the biggest and most bet sporting event in America.
In an effort to gain increased exposure and more public attention, LIV Golf Las Vegas should deliver with Jon Rahm joining other major champions Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Cam Smith, Patrick Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer, Sergio Garcia, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel.
This week 144 PGA Tour pros are in Arizona playing in the popular Phoenix Open Signature Event with an $8.8 million prize pool and $1.6 top prize to the winner. LIV Golf scheduled their event in Las Vegas alongside Super Bowl LVIII, and LIV Golf Las Vegas has 54 players – 13 teams of four players each and two wild cards competing for a total prize pool of $25 million. The winners share is $4 million USD (individual), $3 million USD (team).
HyFlyers GC Captain Phil Mickelson is bullish on LIV Golf in Las Vegas, saying “LIV Golf Las Vegas is an opportunity to showcase what LIV Golf can bring to the U.S. The demographic for LIV in the U.S. is much younger than the traditional golf fan. To be in Las Vegas the week of the Super Bowl, that’s the demographic we’re trying to hit.”
Historic Las Vegas Country Club is a Par 70 playing to nearly 7,100 yards with Bermudagrass fairways and Bent grass greens. LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman won a PGA Tour event at the course in 1986.
Jon Rahm finished bogey-bogey on his final two holes in his LIV Golf debut last week to miss the playoff by 2-strokes. Joaquin Niemann (-12) won LIV Golf Mayakoba (Mexico) by making a birdie on the fourth playoff hole to beat Sergio Garcia for the individual title and capture the top prize of $4 million. Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII won the team event with fellow LIV debutant Tyrrell Hatton posting a final-round 7-under 64.
The CW Network airs the LIV Golf League in 100% of U.S. markets, and U.S. viewers can catch all the action on the CW App & LIV Golf+ App. Fans in the UK can watch the action for free on the LIV Golf YouTube channel.

LIV Las Vegas will be played over 54 holes across three days Thursday through Saturday with a shotgun start each day and no cut.
If there were player matchups this week, I’d be looking towards Brooks Koepka, who can bomb it and attack the soft greens with rain in Las Vegas ahead of Thursday’s opening round. But betting on Koepka to win at +1400 (14/1) – better than 3x odds of Rahm, isn’t a bad option. The 4-time major winner led the field last week at Mayakoba in Mexico for fairways hit and was 5th for driving distance.
