Delta Air Lines is the most on-time large airline, a new analysis reveals.
Last year, 83.2% of Delta’s flights arrived on time, according to OAG, which provides airline industry data. Chile-based LATAM Airlines Group, which is 20% owned by Delta, ranked No. 2 with 82.7% of its flights on time.
Other U.S. airlines in the Top 20 were Alaska (81%), American (79.1%), United (78.7%), Southwest (75.5%), Spirit (69.5%) and JetBlue (68.2%).
“Strong on-time performance results from Delta, American, United and others point to a collective effort by the industry to overcome challenges posed by manufacturing disruptions, supply chain challenges and operational pressures,” says OAG’s chief analyst John Grant.
On-time performance is expected to improve this year, especially in the U.S. market, Grant says. The expected improvement will come from major airlines and airports “competing to cut down on delays to ensure traveler satisfaction and loyalty,” he says.
OAG’s annual analysis also found that Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport ranked as the most on-time large airport in North America with 82.6% of flights arriving on time. Seattle-Tacoma International finished No. 2 at 82.5%, followed by Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International at 81.9%.
Other U.S. airports in the Top 10 were Charlotte (80.4%), Washington Ronald Reagan National (79.6%), Chicago O’Hare (78.8%), Phoenix Sky Harbor (78.6%), Houston George Bush Intercontinental (78.3%), Los Angeles International (78%) and New York LaGuardia (77.6%).
