Itās a win for the underdogs. Josh Williams, known in the Nascar garage for working on his own cars and being as modest as it gets in racing, just earned his big break.
Kaulig Racing on Thursday announced it signed Williams to pilot its flagship No. 11 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series in 2024. Alloy Employer Services, which has been one of Williamsā partners throughout his career, will serve as the lead sponsor in 2024.
āAfter only an hour in the shop, I already feel like itās home,ā Williams said in a press release. āIāve known a lot of these guys for a long time, and I felt like coming over here would give us a good opportunity to get wins. Thatās the goal, trophy hunting.ā
Williams has spent the majority of his Xfinity Series career with DGM Racing, a smaller organization compared to Kaulig Racing. His success with DGM includes 11 top 10s since 2019.
At Kaulig Racing, heāll be expected to compete for wins once he settles into the teamās equipment. The team scored four wins throughout the 2023 season with three different drivers.
In the ARCA Menards Series, Williams competed for his family-owned team. He won two races in the series in 2016, showcasing his raw ability behind the wheel as he became a fan favorite for defeating major teams. His success that season led him to work with DGM Racing, a team heās competed with in every year since.
In 2023, Williamsā popularity skyrocketed after he parked his car on the finish line at Atlanta Motor Speedway, when he disagreed with Nascarās call to park his damaged car for the race. Williams was suspended by Nascar for the next race, and he used the attention to raise money for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

Williams will replace Daniel Hemric, who will take over the teamās No. 31 Cup Series entry in 2024. AJ Allmendinger, who piloted the No. 16 car in the Cup Series in 2023, is expected to drop back down to the Xfinity Series to be a teammate to Williams. Ty Dillon is expected to be announced as Kauligās second Cup driver in 2024.
Last year, Williams was nominated for Comcast Community Champion of the Year for his years of giving back to children. Heās visited over 150 hospitals in person and on Zoom during the pandemic. Through these visits, heās met with countless children, as well as their families, to show his support.
The Nascar Xfinity Series season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 17 on FS1.
