There’s a tidal wave of content barreling toward Overwatch 2 players during the blockbuster Invasion season, which starts on August 10. Between the PvE Story Missions, new support hero Illari and the new PvP mode Watchpoint alone, there’s going to be a lot to keep fans busy. And then, in the latest Overwatch 2: Invasion trailer, came confirmation that this year’s Anniversary event will take place at some point during the season.
We don’t know the exact dates just yet, though I’ll update this post when those details come through. I expect that we’ll need to wait until the back half of the season, closer to Overwatch 2’s actual anniversary of October 4.
In any case, I hope that we see the return of the Archives missions. Those are always a blast to run through once a year when Anniversary rolls around. It’ll be interesting to see how those stack up against the more ambitious, permanent PvE Story Missions. I imagine all the seasonal events will pop back up in the Arcade on a rotating basis during the event too.
My actual favorite part of the Anniversary event every year is the dance emotes. So, I’m really hoping we get to see Sojourn, Kiriko, Junker Queen, Ramattra, Lifeweaver and Illari all busting a move with brand new emotes. I’ve been saving my Overwatch coins all year and I’m ready to spend them on dance moves.
