I’m not a devoted tennis fan but seeing pictures from Wimbledon this past week, I started to get a serious case of FOMO. The traditions of the prestigious tournament are numerous and just sooo good, from the all-white outfits to the bottomless champagne and strawberries and cream. Plus, any event filled with sexy British men is one that I should definitely be in attendance for (hello, David Beckham, Will Kemp and Simon Le Bon and John Taylor from Duran Duran!).
Alas, I’m here at home in New Jersey, so mixing up a Pimm’s Cup will have to suffice.
Pimm’s is quintessentially British and is made with gin that’s infused with botanicals and spices. The recipe for a Pimm’s Cup calls for Pimm’s No. 1, which has a rich amber hue thanks to caramelized orange and spices.
You can make a glass of Pimm’s but why not make a jug and invite your mates over?
Pimm’s Cup
Ingredients
2 cans Sanpellegrino Limonata or other fizzy lemonade
1 cup Pimm’s No. 1
½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
cucumber slices
orange slices
chopped strawberries
fresh mint leaves
lemon and mint for garnish
Method
Fill a jug halfway with ice and add all of the fruit, lemon juice and herbs. Pour in Pimm’s No. 1. Top with sparkling lemonade and stir. Fill four highball glasses with ice and pour in the mixture. Garnish each with a mint sprig and a lemon slice and serve.
It’s the next best thing to being courtside!
