Taylor Swift had a huge night at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, even if she wasnāt there. The singer was playing a concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilāwhere sheās also scheduled to perform tonightābut that didnāt stop her from claiming several more prizes. In fact, the superstar still managed to make history at the ceremony in a number of ways.
The āAnti-Heroā singer won 10 more BBMAs this year. She came in second for the most trophies claimed at the 2023 ceremony, with Morgan Wallen beating her by one prize.
With 10 more BBMAs to her credit, Swift has now won 39 trophies throughout her career. She is now tied with Drake for the most honors of all time, according to Billboard. Drake was winning in this regard before last night, but with five more prizes earned, the two superstars are now matched.
Swift and Drake have been playing a game of tag for years in many respects. They recently tied one another on the Billboard 200, for the third-most No. 1 albums ever. Drake pulled ahead of Swift, only for her to catch up mere weeks later. Now, it seems theyāre evenly matched when it comes to the Billboard Music Awards as well.
The two superstars are tied in more than just the one way. Swift took homeāvirtually, that isāTop Artist. It was her third win in the category. She is now on the same level as Drake for the most honors in that field.
There are a handful of categories where Swift pulled even further ahead of the competition, as she already claimed a record number of wins. She came out on top in Top Billboard 200 Artist for the sixth time and Top Female Artist for a fifth instance. The singer also collected prizes like Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Radio Songs Artist, and Top Song Sales Artist, among others.
